Code Architecture won a tender with Department of Transport and Planning, Land Use Victoria, Digital Twin Victoria to participate in the eComply project, in the testing of 3D building compliance technology that can pre-check building designs against deem to comply planning codes. Code Architecture worked along side Development Victoria, Digital Twin Victoria and Archistar to test the first eComply solution.

The Spiral townhouse was one of three concepts developed to stress test Archistar’s eComply solution. The planning code used was for the Cairnlee Town Centre, just west of Sunshine, Victoria. The design, modelling and testing of the this design to get a deemed to comply planning approval took less than a week. Rapid testing could be undertaken by uploading multiple design variations to the eComply AI compliance checker to fix any non-compliances on the fly, thus reducing the time needed to communicate back and forth with a human planner.

Code Architecture strongly supports the implementation of deem to comply planning rules in conjunction with eComply solutions such as the one developed by Archistar. This type of AI implementation can help with some of the supply side bottlenecks that lead to housing shortages.
