Blackshaws
This house located in Far North Queensland was designed as a modern interpretation of the Queenslander, suitable for tropical living. This modern Queenslander provides inside outside living on the upper floor to capture prevailing winds and is articulated with external timber screens to provide privacy and sun control. The corrugated iron was used externally as a durable material to protect the house from the harsh tropical weather. The house was constructed and built to withstand a category 5 cyclone and survived without any loss of fixture or water penetration during Cyclone Yasi (Category 5). The project was completed in 2018.
